    The CT Recyclers Conference is the singular event each year where municipalities, state officials, the business community and non-profit organizations in Connecticut come together in one setting to have a dialogue about the best ways to achieve our mutual goal of a 60% recycling rate statewide.

  • Recycling Markets Update With Chaz Miller Recycling Markets Update With Chaz Miller


    CRC is pleased to announce that Chaz Miller has been added to the 2018 CT Recycling Conference Agenda. Chaz will provide an update on the status of recycling markets, such as those for paper, plastics, metals and other commodities. He will look at the potential impact of China's import bans on unsorted paper and mixed plastics, which go into effect on January 1, 2018.  He will examine what has happened in response to the bans and likely events throughout the rest of the year.

    Chaz Miller has extensive experience in recycling and waste management.  He worked for EPA’s solid waste office doing recycling and other waste-related work, was Director of Recycling for the Glass Packaging Institute and has been Director, Policy/Advocacy, for the National Waste & Recycling Association.  He advocated on behalf of the recycling and waste industry on a variety of issues including market development, state recycling legislation, extended producer responsibility and organics management. He has testified at state and Congressional hearings. Chaz has been a keynoter and speaker at recycling and solid waste conferences in the United States, Canada, Japan and China. He was Chairman of the Board of the National Recycling Coalition and is a past President of the Maryland Recycling network. He writes “The Circular File”, an award-winning column for Waste 360.  He retired from full time work in mid-2017.
